Dieter List

Biography:

Dieter List comes from Hamburg and has been for more than 10 Worked exclusively as an artist for years. The material he uses is plaster of paris bandages, with which he made three-dimensional objects, Plaster reliefs, sculpts through two different techniques.

One technique is about landscapes. He installs three layers of plaster bandages over a wire mesh substructure and gives the bandages strong contours. The artist paints these with different colors using a special technique, so that the viewer, depending on its point of view, always receives a different color experience. He calls this technique "DreiSicht".

The other technique is List about the play of light and shadow in rooms. Here he also works with plaster bandages, however, he uses a completely different method. He smooths it so smoothly with his hands, that the plaster bandages no longer have the typical holes, but rather have a smooth surface. These multi-layered objects are reminiscent of architecture and are stricter, more sculptural and puristic. That is why Dieter List describes this technology as "Pure".
